Support for your upper body as you continue healing at a pace that respects where you are now.
Power of the Pits was originally created to help people understand a key compensation pattern that affects the pits, ribs, shoulders, neck, and breath.
What I didn’t expect was how many breast-cancer survivors would join… and how much relief they would feel.
Their feedback made something very clear:
And this is exactly what Power of the Pits teaches.
I spent 15 years working directly with cancer survivors, supporting movement, breath, and recovery during and after treatment.
One of my therapeutic yoga programs was studied at the University of Calgary from 2001–2008, exploring how mindful movement supported people during and after cancer care.
My work has long focused on gentle retraining of movement patterns, and clients have seen first hand how tissue can change… including scar tissue and tissue impacted by radiation.
This experience informs the way I teach Power of the Pits: with deliberately, specifically, and with respect for the healing process, It is an approach that is gentle, effective, and safe with research behind it.
People who have taken this program joined because they felt
Tightness or pulling through the chest or pit
Limited overhead movement
Difficulty trusting your shoulder again
“Stuck” ribs or shallow breathing
Extra effort in the neck or upper back
Bracing or guarding you can’t “turn off”
Fatigue when trying to strengthen too soon
These are normal given what your body has been through.
And they can shift, gently.
This program isn’t cancer rehab and it isn’t medical treatment.
It is a gentle, awareness-based approach to:
Many survivors describe the experience as:
“Finally, something that feels safe and actually makes sense.”
“I didn’t know my chest could feel this light again.”
“My shoulder finally moves without pinching.”
“This is the first time since surgery that my breath feels free.”
“I love that it’s gentle. I feel safe here.”
Power of the Pits is a good fit if you want:
Movement that respects surgical history
Relief that doesn’t require pushing or straining
A clear, simple way to reconnect your upper body
Better breath, posture, and ease
A gentle approach that works with — not against — your healing
You’re welcome here whether you’re weeks, months, or years post-treatment.
